Nintendo has responded to a fan petition that calls on the company to name a character in the next Legend of Zelda game for Wii U after the late comedian/actor Robin Williams.
Will Robin Williams Get His Own Character In The Next Zelda? A Nintendo spokesperson had this to say to Polygon about that question:
“Robin Williams was loved at Nintendo. Our hearts go out to his entire family, and especially to Zelda Williams who we’ve worked with multiple times. We appreciate the outpouring of support from the gaming community, and hear the request of fans to honor him in a future game. We will not be discussing what might be possible for future games during this difficult time, but we will hold our memories of Robin close.
Zelda and Robin Williams have worked with Nintendo multiple times and it would be a great tribute to have someone who has touched so many lives to live on through an unforgettable game like Zelda. Only time will tell with the next release of the series, but what a brilliant thought.
