Rock Band, Amplitude Developer Suffers Layoffs

Dance Central, Rock Band, and Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved developer Harmonix suffered layoffs this week, letting go of 37 employees.

It’s never a good thing when a good game developer suffers layoffs. The games they make might not be on everyone’s favorite list but you have to admit that they are the most immersive games the you can play with motion control technology. On the bright side, the games that are currently in development; one of which, Amplitude, was crowdsourced will still be on schedule for release. The company commented that this:  “is unrelated to Microsoft’s recent announcement regarding unbundling Kinect from the Xbox One platform.”
