MegaCon is one of the largest conventions for everything geeky. The convention has become one of the biggest of its kind in the southeast region, catering to the massive community sci-fi, gaming, anime, horror, and comic book fans. It is held in Orlando, Florida during spring and occurred from April 10th to April 12th this year. The convention invites an impressive roster of media and comic book guests, events, and exhibits. Attendees are free to pick and choose which events they wish to partake in and which celebrities they wish to meet.

One of MegaCon’s main events this year was the MegaWalk. It was the first year that MegaCon had the event, which led convention-goers right to the convention. Participants received a t-shirt, a medal, and a coupon for the Coliseum of Comics. The proceeds went to The Hero Initiative, a charity initiative that helps comic creators receive medical and financial benefits that they need.

Several other events also took place. There was a little something for everyone, from goofy improv groups to horrifying zombie costume contests. The convention even hosted game shows and speed dating. Since the convention has become a safe haven for geeks of every type, they even hosted a panel promoting body confidence and positivity for cosplayers. A video game and video game development panel was held to inform gamers of everything new in the gaming world, including large releases and indie games. The convention even held an indie film festival and an anime music video contest.

The convention is also very well-known for its celebrity panel. Jeremy Shada and Olivia Olson from hit TV show, Adventure Time, were two of the celebrities the event invited. Others included Sean Patrick Flanery, Clifton Collins Jr. and David Della Rocca from The Boondock Saints, Mark Boone and Ryan Hurst from Sons of Anarchy, superstar Michael Rooker, wrestling icon Hulk Hogan,  Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin and Alan Tudyk from the sci-fi classic Firefly, sci-fi star Ron Perlman, and several others. Comic book guests included the great Stan Lee, Bob Layton, Ed McGuinness, Amanda Conner, Rob Hunter, and more.

Bummed you missed MegaCon this year? Don’t worry. The convention has plans to continue on an annual basis. If you aren’t convinced yet, here is a video from the 2014 convention.
