Welcome to the era of Microcraft! Mojang has confirmed that it along with Minecraft, it’s signature title, has been purchased for $2.5 billion and the core developers will be leaving the company. This whole deal arises because ‘Notch’ the creator of Minecraft no longer wanted the responsibility of owning such an influential game and felt it would be better in the hands of a company that was used to handling such things. Notch will continue to “do cool stuff” and possibly with his current development team… since they are leaving too.
So what’s next now that the Minecraft purchase is confirmed? I’m actually excited to see what Microsoft will do to improve our beloved game. Maybe some free servers? ::hint:: ::hint:: For the full story, watch the video below from my favorite general news source, SourceFed.
Would you be able to handle the pressure of all those fans?
