Attack on Titan has undoubtedly become one of the most well-received manga-turned-anime shows of the decade. The announcement for two live-action films had Attack on Titan fans in an uproar, but it looks like that’s not the only live-action production in the works. The television franchise has officially announced a live-action television show as well. According to reports via the Anime News Network, the Attack on Titan live-action TV show is currently in development.
The show is supposed to take place in the same universe as the original anime, but will focus on a new story. The story will take place sometime between the two live-action movies and will feature a lot of the same actors including Satomi Ishihara as the character Hanji. Other returning actors include Nanami Sakuraba, Shu Watanabe, Rina Takeda and Ayame Misaki.
The director of the movies, Shinji Higuchi, will also direct the show. The manga creator, Hajime Isayama, will also oversee the product.
The television series will be available to stream on dTV in August and the live-action films are to be in Japanese theaters in July and August. The anime will get a second season in 2016.
