Everyone likes leaked information, right?
Well, have I got some leakage for you! (ugh, that sounded bad)
This is a card that was leaked via Imgur today advertising the gold edition of the game which, obviously, gives you some added benefits as opposed to the base game.
The name Assassin’s Creed Origins was leaked a little while ago, but this confirms the game’s name if not the rating (which will probably be on par with the other games with the R rating).
The card states that with the preorder you will get a bonus mission: Secrets of the First Pyramids. I don’t know what the hell that is, but it sounds interesting enough to rack up enough preorders to make Ubisoft cream.
But wait! That’s not all, the game’s season pass will also be included as well as the Deluxe Pack, and it will come all neatly put in a Steelbook case.
Now, here’s the question that’s probably on a lot of people’s minds right now…
Is this really real?
Well, all we really knew about Origins up till this point was a shot of a screen running an early build of the game. That’s kind of it.
I mean, other than a look at a single part of the game this doesn’t really tell us much, other than it’s set in ancient Egypt and it may contain boats.
So the card could be real, no other information directly contradicts it, and it sounds like it’s real enough. But there is one thing that does kind of throw me off a little bit, the Ubisoft logo printed on the bottom right-hand corner of the card.
That’s right, it’s not the “new and improved” logo they’ve been putting out there recently, it’s the old one. Now, this might not necessarily mean that the leak is fake, these cards all could’ve been printed well before the Ubisoft logo-change. It’s just something to think about, you really gotta analyze all the aspects of this leaked s**t, there are people who go a long way to make something believable so they can throw off an entire fanbase.
Now, I’ve already hashed this out in a previous article, but I’d say there’s debate on whether this game will actually be good. I mean, Assassin’s Creed has kind of just become a parody of itself in recent years, but having taken the previous year off from documenting the adventures of ancient assassins, there is a chance that Ubisoft could be making a comeback in one of the most popular game franchises of the past decade.
I don’t think they really need to do much with the game other than make it solid. It seems like Ubisoft spends all their time and resources trying to make the ultimate video game, when all they need is to stick to what made the franchise good in the first place.
And if that doesn’t work, maybe it’s time to finally end this saga. But that would be premature, in my opinion. I mean, there’s still stuff they could do, time periods they could replicate, maybe this year off has helped them realize that. But we’ll just have to find out for ourselves when the game eventually comes out.
