Civilization is evolving. Each passing year brings us more in the way of technology that we can utilize to further improve life and efficiency. A cheap PC rig as such, if you look back ten, even five years ago you will see how far we have come, how many more gigabytes we can move around inside our little machines.
Computers are now toys! Well, analogous to toys. Over the past decade, we have seen more and more in the way of customized computers. People who’ve opened up a PC at home to see what makes them tick have now taken to building them themselves, and fine tuning them to their wants and desires. Computers have become so modular that when going for a high-end rig it would be almost foolish not to build it yourself. Yes, there are companies who do that for you and make it all neat and tidy, but it’s not like you’re going to get 4K performance from an off the shelf desktop, and the ones that are powerful like that are overpriced. That’s why you should build it yourself.
Now, you might be saying “but what if you don’t know how to build a cheap PC rig?” well that’s not a big issue. I had no clue what was inside a computer and I figured it out with the help of a friend. If you’re going for a high-end gaming PC, you most likely are a nerd. Nerds like technology. If you like technology, chances are that you would be willing to learn how to build a computer. If you don’t want to build a computer then all the more power to you, Alienware has some cool stuff out right now. But for those people who love technology more than life itself, then this is perfect for you. There’s even the added bonus of not having a definite price, it’s yours to decide. Pick out each component to your liking and you can get a very good budget gaming PC that will still run games smoothly for $500. Don’t know anything about components? There are some great websites (pcpartpicker.com is what I used) that will let you know exactly what parts you need, let you search for parts and compare prices, and let you know what will be compatible.
It’s never been easier to build a computer, and in this day and age technology is always advancing and at an exponential rate as well, building a computer will allow you the freedom of upgrading as new tech comes out. It’s literally as simple as clicking parts together, it’s modular to the point of almost being a toy with some wires. Delicate toys, but toys nonetheless. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that computers are quickly becoming new-age Legos. Think about it, you have all these parts that just snap and plug together to make something unique to your tastes. It’s Legos for nerds!
